CHILDREN'S HEALTH INSURANCE (CHIP)

The Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) was founded in 1997 to provide coverage for the 7.1 million low-income children in our nation.  This federally funded program is available for those children whose parents make too much for Medicaid, but too little to buy individual insurance.  Because eligibility and coverages for Medicaid is different in every state, so is the Chip program.  All states try to ensure that out-of-pocket expenses be kept small so that low-income families can afford the coverage.  The federal poverty level for a family of four for year 2001 is $17,650.00.  Please call the Ron Black Agency at 1-800-760-9248 or 610-948-4830 to discuss the Chip program further.
